As a fresh graduate, one of the most daunting things you have to do is adjust to a formal environment (depending on the field you go in, but for the sake of convenience we’ll say business). This includes the way you talk, your interactions with people, and also your wardrobe. When I picture myself at a future job, I always have a cute outfit on. Dressing well always elevates my confidence, which is why I decided to share with you my ideal staple pieces I’d like to have in my wardrobe for when I start working. *fingers crossed*
My fashion sense is quite traditional and feminine. I wish I was the kinda gal who digs neon coats and reading Vouge 24/7 but I’m just someone who really enjoys shopping and putting her own little twist on outfits. When it comes to workwear, I love the juxtaposition between formal and casual. Wearing pencil skirts with converse, or heels with a T-shirt is totally down my alley. I’ve tried to incorporate that in some of my looks.
I adore the look of chiffon and silk tops for the workplace (and even in general). I think they look so nice paired with denim or formal trousers. Personally, I like bows and ruffles so the look of how the one is the middle is tied at the waist is something I love. I also like the idea of having neutral tops so you can wear them multiple times in different ways.
As you can see, I’m a little bit more experimental with my bottoms choices. For the first one, I never liked bell-bottoms before I saw them made in non-denim material but in this instance I think they’re super cute. It would be interesting to try a pair of these in red! I love midi skirts too, and the one in the second picture is gorgeous; it would look great paired with a baby blue sweater and heels. And in the last picture, you can see my love for ribbon-like tie-belts again.
Okay, let me level with you here. I’m not Kylie Jenner; I don’t have enough money to buy even one of those shoes, let alone all of them. But a girl can dream, right? I feel like I don’t even have to say much about these because they speak for themselves. *heart eyes forever* On a serious note, I do want to start wearing heels more because I’ve never really developed the habit and I think they look great on anyone.
And that’s all the work wardrobe inspiration for you today! What does your favorite business-formal outfit look like?
