I had been struggling a bit with writing today’s post because I couldn’t decide what I wanted to write about. So I did what I always do at times like these: I looked around at other blogs for inspiration. Through web-surfing I came across the beautiful Tenneil and thoroughly enjoyed reading her AM & PM routine post. I know I’m like two years late to the party and nobody really tagged me, but it’s just too a tag cool to pass up!
01. What is your morning beauty routine?
I’m pretty crap at sticking to routines, especially if they have to do with self-care, and because I’m not a morning person I don’t tend to spend too much time getting ready. That being said, I usually roll out of bed and brush my teeth with my trusty tooth-whitening toothpaste (which works wonders, by the way), and wash my face. I haven’t landed on a facewash that I love yet so if you have any recommendations for someone with normal-to-dry skin, let me know please!
02. What’s for breakfast?
I’m not really a breakfast person, especially if I’ve woken up after not sleeping much (which is quite often). In the weekends, I like to have muesli and warm milk, or eggs and toast. My favorite breakfast ever is my grandma’s fried eggs and potatoes, but I don’t have it regularly because that much oil isn’t very healthy to consume every day.
03. Coffee or tea?
Coffee all the way! Everybody knows about my coffee obsession. I’m a huge fan of getting café coffee but I usually end up not having time to drive to the nearest Starbucks, so I just opt for the Nescafe 3-in-1 sachets instead. I’ve been having a cup a day for four years now and they’re very dear to me, as funny as that sounds!
04. How long does it take you to get out the door?
Not too long if I have an outfit picked out. All I do in this case is get dressed, put some sunscreen on, and spritz whatever perfume I’m loving that day. Lately, I’ve been using Pink’s Lavender Beach. Not knowing what to wear is a whole other story, though.
05. What is your go-to make up look on a fuss-free morning?
I’m not really a fan of make up; I don’t get how to put it on and I feel like I can never find the right shades for my skin tone, so I just get frustrated and give up. BUT, about a year ago, I discovered this lipstick from Gosh and it’s literally all I ever wear. The color is just a little bit pinker than my natural lip color and brightens up my entire face! I should learn how to use concealer though, because my eyebags really aren’t doing me any favours…
06. Snack time! What’s in the bowl?
I usually have a big lunch when I get home so don’t really feel the need to eat a snack before dinner, but if need be, I just have my second coffee of the day. Sometimes I’ll have some fruit or crackers if there’s any lying around the house.
07. What is your evening beauty routine?
I’m a night showerer so I end up washing my face again in the shower, this time with my Clarisonic, and maybe putting any random moisturiser on too. I also use the Kaya Skin Clinic Daily Pore Minimising toner and Ligten & Smooth under-eye gel!
08. How do you wind down and prep for bed?
After showering, I grab some dinner and eat it in the living room with my family. We either talk or have the TV accompanying us. Sometimes I eat earlier or later than them, so on those occasions I just end up having it in my room with YouTube on. I also make sure I’ve finished everything I needed to do for the day, and mentally plan out everything I have to do tomorrow.
09. Cozy up! What are you wearing to bed?
I’m a fan of wearing massively oversized T-shirts and comfy cotton PJ pants to bed. I don’t see the point in wearing fancy pajamas, though they can be quite pretty. In the winter, I tend to wear something warmer to bed too – usually my leaver’s hoodie from high school.
10. What are some things you must do before hitting the hay?
Firstly, my room has to be clean. It’s a weird OCD bent but I can’t function in an untidy space. So I start with getting rid of the clutter, turn off the gnarly overhead lights and switch on my fairy lights instead, and get in bed with my phone. I just check my socials or watch something on Netflix until I’m tired enough to doze right off. Lately, I’ve been trying to get into the habit of reading for fifteen minutes before sleeping.
