I’m so proud to officially announce that my blog has had a much-needed makeover! You are looking at the new and improved Earth to Arshi.
As you’ve probably picked up if you’ve been reading my stuff for a while, aesthetics really matter to me. I know they aren’t everything but I genuinely believe that blogs that look pretty make me want to keep coming back to them compared to blogs that are difficult to navigate and don’t have consistent branding. That’s probably the marketing snob in me talking, but I wanted to ensure that the one thing that represented me online was the best it can be. Without sounding too cocky, I think I hit the nail on the head. 😉
So, what’s new?
This one is pretty obvious. My best friend was kind enough to buy me a brand new theme that I’d been lusting after for a while. Dealing with it made me come across a few technical difficulties, but I wanted to have my blog reflect who I am as a person. I think the new layout does this perfectly, with the colors, fonts, and so on. I’m so excited about it! Just to give you some perspective, here is the a progress picture from when my blog first began to today:
Ever since I started blogging, I read everywhere that it’s important to figure out your niche and establish it from the beginning. This is a daunting task for a girl who hasn’t even completely made up her mind on whether or not she likes jeggings. I had no idea what it was that I loved enough to talk about 24/7 (apart from my cats, but that’s maybe too much of a niche). I kept changing my categories every time I wanted to write a new blogpost because it didn’t fit into the categories I already had, and eventually my work just got inconsistent to the point of irritating. With this relaunch, I have decided to make my blog be a collection of posts about everything that catches my interest: career/academics, fashion/beauty/skincare, interiors/architecture, travel, and blogging/branding. And because I love reading blogs where the writer’s personality is prevalent, I even have a little diary section where I hope to share life updates with you!
03. Posting Schedule
Since I don’t have much going on at the moment, I want to try and post everyday. That being said, I want to ensure that my content does not dip in quality, so I might miss a day here and there sometimes. I’ll keep you updated on my Twitter and Instagram.
This last point is more of a personal goal, but with this rebrand I want to start taking more of my own pictures. I used to love photography even more than the process of writing blog posts, but recently I’ve become insecure of my abilities in taking pictures and editing them. I’ve signed up for a few Skillshare classes on photography so I hope to take them and see an improvement in my work!
That’s it for the updates. But most importantly: what do you think? I’m always open to feedback and constructive criticisms.
