If you know the first things about me, you know that I love my TV shows. There are certain shows, though, that just make me feel at home. Watching them feels akin to sitting in the living room of my house, chatting away to my mom about random things whilst sipping on hot cocoa. Today, I wanted to share with you what these shows are, so if you’ve had a hard day, you could order some Chinese and chill out with your cat with one of these playing in the background. *bliss*
Do you like small towns, coffee, and seasonal decorations? Then this is the show for you. Gilmore Girls is about mother-daughter power duo Lorelai and Rory dealing with everyday problems like college applications, nosey extended family, and fallouts with best friends. The reason why I like Gilmore Girls so much is that they live the most regular life ever. There’s something so soothing about watching their lives play out, knowing everything’s going to be okay at the end.
Another classic! You’ve definitely heard of this one, but it never gets old. I’ve seen people on Twitter and Instagram say that this show is overrated and I honestly don’t understand that. It stays funny no matter how many times you watch it, and I can completely lose myself in an episode (or ten).
Jane the Virgin
This show is the complete opposite of Gilmore Girls in the sense that it’s so unbelievable. It follows the story of Jane, a girl in her 20’s saving herself for marriage, who gets accidentally artificially inseminated. Then ensues an avalanche of crazy subplots that connect you to the characters in ways that no other show does. If you want to escape reality without any of the sci-fi or fantasy stuff, definitely tune in to JTV.
Ever wanted to be one of the top 1% of the wealthiest people in the world? With this show, you can have that life. Watch the day-to-day adventures of some of the richest teens in Upper-East Side NYC, and wish you could pull of Balenciaga and Chloé as casually as they can. My favorite thing about this show is Blair Waldorf, who is one of the leads and has the most interesting storyline, in my opinion. Then we have Serena, played by the stunning Blake Lively, who balances Blair’s bitchiness out perfectly. The show has its fair share of cute guys too, so grab some macaroons and binge your problems away with Gossip Girl.
Any of my favorite TV show lists wouldn’t be complete without mentioning my number one, Love Island. A bit different to the others mentioned, Love Island is a British reality show about a bunch of single, attractive men and women trapped in a villa for weeks on end. The only way they can win is by staying coupled up with one another. This show is full of drama, petty fights, and romance, which is the perfect equation. I recommend watching season 3; it has the best banter.
